But looking successful and building a strong company are not the same thing. WHY FOUNDERS FALL INTO THE TRAP Social pressure. Culture of appearance. Financial illiteracy. FOMO. The founder must learn to distinguish immediate shine from durable strength. EXPENSE VS. INVESTMENT Luxury car for image: expense. Delivery vehicle that improves service: potential investment. Prestigious office for appearance: expense. Functional workspace that raises productivity: potential investment. Machine purchased before demand: misplaced expense. Machine purchased when demand justifies use: investment.
